What Is a .бг Domain? Who Should Use It in 2026?

A country-code domain can help a website speak directly to a national audience. A .бг domain is Bulgaria’s Cyrillic country-code extension, making it relevant for Bulgarian-language businesses, public projects, communities, and services.

What is a .бг domain?

A .бг domain is an internationalised country-code address written in Bulgarian Cyrillic. Its technical DNS form is xn--90ae. It is managed by Imena.BG AD and is registered through accredited registrars under the registry’s identification and naming rules.

Who should use a .бг domain?

A .бг domain may suit:

• Bulgarian companies and local service providers
• Tourism, hospitality, retail, and cultural projects
• Public-information, educational, and community websites
• Publishers and organisations communicating in Bulgarian
• EU-based organisations with a legitimate Bulgarian audience

What should you check before registering?

Registration requires current registrant identification and is handled through an accredited registrar. The registry rules can require a Bulgarian or EU connection, or an authorised representative, depending on the registrant. Check the exact Cyrillic label, availability, documentation, renewal price, protected geographic names, and paired-name rules before ordering. Confirm support for the technical A-label xn--90ae in your hosting and email systems.

Benefits of a .бг domain

A .бг address gives a Bulgarian-language project a familiar national identity and can support local trust. It can work for business websites, tourism, public services, local commerce, and content intended for Bulgarian readers.
